2009: Intars Busulis - Пробка!

Intars Busulis was born on the 2nd of May, 1978 in Talsi. Said to be a studious child, he graduated from the Talsi School of Music, where he’d studied the trombone. At the same time, he was also involved in a folk dance ensemble. He made his performing debut with his sister singing the song Moustached Cat, but his real debut came with the vocal ensemble Talsu Sprīdīši, while studying at the music school.

Following his graduation, Intars moved to Ventspils in order to take his studies further. It was here he also began to play trombone in the Ventspils Bigband. Not long after, he became inspired to try his luck as a singer, forming the band Caffe with Raimonds Tigulis. This would actually become a decisive move in his career. Always having his fingers in several pies, Intars also played with the orchestra of the National Armed Forces as well as in a jazz band called Wet Point. In 2005, he took part in a project called European Youth Jazz Orchestra, fuelling his passion for creativity even further. Through his love of jazz, Intars has travelled to and performed at countless jazz festivals in Lithuania, Estonia, France, Finland and Canada.

But jazz music is not Intars’ only forte – he has also appeared in quite a few musical adaptations and stage productions too, such as Notre Dame De Paris (2007), Autoplantet (2005), Mass (2007), Virus Art Cabaret (2004) and Cabaret Allez (2006), to name but a few. Intars has also had the great fortune to play with some of Latvia’s greatest names in the music business, including  Kārlis Lācis and Sweetwaterz, Maestro Raimonds Pauls, Māris Briežkalns and his quintet, Gunārs Rozenbergs and Mirage Jazz Ochestra, Deniss Paškēvičs and Riga Groove – the list of collaborations is a long one!

The singer has also released three albums during the course of his career : Shades of Kiss (2005), Kino/КИNО – a bilingual album in both Russian and Latvian (2008) and AKTs (2010).
