Sanna Nielsen was born on the 27th of November in 1984 in Eneryd, Sweden. At age 11 she had a breakthrough with the song Till en fågel (To a bird) which reached the number one spot on the swedish chart Svensktoppen and became the youngest performer to reach that position.
In 2001 Sanna entered Melodifestivalen for the first – but not last time, with the ballad I går, I dag (Yesterday, today) which reached a 3rd place. After this she appeared at christmas concerts together with performers like the former Eurovision winner Charlotte Perelli. In 2003 Sanna was back in Melodifestivalen with the song Hela världen för mig which ended on a 5th place. I 2005 she took part again, this time she formed a duo with Fredrik Kempe and sang Du och jag mot världen which resulted i a 8th place. In 2007 she entered the compeitition once more with the song Vågar du, vågar jag and claimed a 7th place.
In 2008 Sanna tried her luck in the competition with the big ballad Empty room which reached a respectable 2nd place after winning the televoting but failing to collect enough points from the juries to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest. In 2011 Sanna made her 6th appearance in the compeition with the song I’m in Love for which she was awarded a 4th place.
