Sofi Marinova is one of the most popular artists in Bulgaria. Until today she has participated and succeeded in several song festivals. Sofi started singing at an early age and was coached in singing and dancing by her mother. She began singing cover versions, for example of Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson, but she also had gypsy songs in her repertoire as these are from her cultural heritage.
Before winning the ticket to Baku she had participated in the Bulgarian national final twice. In 2005 she became second with Edinstveni (Only One) with Slavi Trifonov as her duet partner. Two years later she tried it again with the rapper Ustata and the entry Ya Tvoya (I’m Yours), finishing third. On February 29th she finally was lucky and reached the first position of this year’s national final. She will represent Bulgaria in the second semifinal, starting from position no. 8.
