Behind the name Conchita Wurst we find Tom Neuwirth, born in November 1988. He started his career in 2006 particicipating in the talent show Starmania. Later he joined a boyband, and it wasn’t until 2011 his alter ego Conchita Wurst was invented. That was for yet another talent show; Die große Chance. Who wouldn’t noitice a man dressed as a woman, but still keeping his full beard as a man? In Austria they certainly did.
He has taken part in several reality TV shows since that, and also in the Austrian national selection in 2012 where he came second with the song That’s What I Am.
