2011: Lena - Taken by a stranger

Lena Meyer-Landrut was born in Hanover in 1991. Last year she had her break-through in the casting show Unser Star für Oslo which was also the national selection for the German representative in Norway. During the shows Lena’s popularity increased steadily, so that she finally won the final with a clear margin. Her entry Satellite topped the German charts, as well as her first album My cassette player.

Satellite was not only popular in Germany. Lena could carry the enthusiasm to Oslo and finally managed to win the Eurovision Song Contest – the second German victory ever. Her winning entry reached high chart positions in several European countries.

Right after her victory the German television announced that Lena should represent Germany again in 2011. On March 24th she received two Echo’s – the most important German music award. She was chosen as the most successful female German artist and the most successful national newcomer. Her second album Good news topped again the German album charts.
