2011: Eric Saade - Popular

Eric Saade was born in Kattarp, Sweden, in 1990 to a Lebanese father (with roots in Palestine) and a Swedish mother. Eric began to write songs when he was 13. At the age of 15 he signed his first music contract and later his career took of when he joined the newly formed boyband What’s Up in 2007. Two singles were released and the song Go
Girl!
peaked at #5 in the Swedish Singles Chart in May 2007. The band released the album In Pose in 2008 and toured around in Sweden. The same year they sang the swedish language version fo the theme song fo the Disney production Camp Rock.

In 2009 Eric left the band to embark on a career as a solo artist. Later that year he released the single "Sleepless". Eric was now about to get his big breakthrough for the swedish audience as he took part in Melodifestivalen 2010 with the song Manboy, written by Fredrik Kempe and Peter Boström. Eric won his semifinal and came third in the final. Later in the same year he released his album Masquerade. He was also the swedish spokesperson at the Eurovision song contest 2010.
