Paula Seling was born on Christmas Day 1978 in the northern Romanian town of Baia Mare. Since learning to play the piano from age 6, she’s won many awards, most notably participating in the prestigious Golden Stag Festival in her native Romania. She’s performed with former Italian Eurovision entrant Al Bano (1976, 1985) and has opened concerts for Beyoncé, Joan Baez and Michael Bolton.
Ovi, born Ovidiu Cernăuţeanu, but also known as Ovi Martin and Ovidiu Jacobsen. His influences include Billy Joel, Elton John and Stevie Wonder – so it’s no surprise that pianos feature in his Eurovision song. He released his first album in 2009. Ovi has already participated in two national finals in Norway (he’s half Norwegian), so he’s hoping that a contest in Oslo will give him an advantage. He’s written the song Playing with fire.
