Lithuania have turned to expat Andrius Pojavis this year in the hope of securing a place in the final for a third successive year. Singer songwriter Andrius Pojavis was born in Jurbarkas, central Lithuania on the 25th of November, 1983. He was drawn to music at an early age and he took his first tentative steps towards a singing career when performing in the band No Hero while attending High School. He moved to Vilnius where he studied history at university level and during his time in the capital, he also played in a number of bands. His first taste of fame came his band The Hetero won the Eurorock music competition in 2006.
Since then, Pojavis has moved overseas, where his first journey took him to Ireland. It was here he concentrated on developing his singer songwriting skills. He later moved to Italy, where he now lives with his wife and daughter. Here, he recorded his debut album, the eight track album Aštuoni (Eight), which was released to great critical acclaim and considerable commercial success last year. His debut single from the album, Traukiniai (Trains), even cracked the Lithuanian top twenty.
Depsite busy times for Pojavis after having won this year’s national selection in Lithuania, he’s not one to rest on his laurels and is currently working on material to be included on his follow up album.
