United Kingdom 2016: BBC announces selection process

The BBC, the broadcaster responsible the United Kingdom’s Eurovision Song Contest participation has announced its plans for 2016. Due to recent disappointing results since the BBC have gone with an internal selection, the broadcaster has promised a revamp this year in the hope of reclaiming the elusive Eurovision crown.

Today we have news about the selection process for the United Kingdom entry for 2016. After several disappointing results from internal selections, the BBC has decided to open the choice up to the British public again.

Eurovision: You Decide will be broadcast live on Friday the 26th February on BBC Four. Six shortlisted acts will perform songs which OGAE UK have helped to choose. Also helping shortlist the yet to be announced acts were the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA) and Hugh Goldsmith, founder of Innocent Records.

The 90 minute show will be hosted from the O2 Forum Kentish Town by Mel Giedroyc and will feature musical guests yet to be announced. An expert panel will be used to help guide the British public to make the correct decision.
