Strong rumours indicated for a while that Salina had been approached by the Greek broadcaster ERT to represent them at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. She has confirmed the rumours, and today she released the song which could have been the Greek entry had ARGO not been chosen instead.
Immediately after ERT’s announcement that ARGO has been internally chosen to represent Greece in Stockholm, Salina confirmed the rumours that she had been approached by the Greek broadcaster ERT to represent the country at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, but also that she had told ERT that she would prefer going through a national selection.
I had prepared a song that meets the standards that could stand decently in the contest. I would with pleasure represent Greece in the contest only through a national final and only if the Greek audience voted for my song. The possibility of an internal selection is not my concern because I was always focused on the public’s opinion. I think that an internal choice of a group not known to the public is extremely risky. But even though it was known to the general public, the internal selection is a process with which I disagree. I believe in transparency.
Today, Salina released the song she had prepared for ERT and the Eurovision Song Contest. It is titled Love Is A Game and is a duet with Stavros Vanderwilt. With the critics in Greece towards ARGO and their entry Utopian Land, question is if this would have been a better choice? In the video below you can listen to this one and judge for yourself.
