The Irish puppet Dustin the Turkey caught a lot of attention at last year’s Eurovision Song Contest, but as this publicity wasn’t transferred into votes Ireland was left in the semi-final. Sinead Mulvery & Black Daisy will be trying to change that when they will be representing the country in Moscow with the song Et Cetera.
The country that have won the Eurovision Song Contest seven times failed completely in Belgrade when Dustin the Turkey despite media attention from all over the world didn’t manage to qualify for the final. Tonight six acts had lined up for The Late Late Show Eurosong Special. All wanted to prove to the juries and to the TV viewers that they have what it takes to bring a good result back to Ireland in Moscow in May.
The six acts competing were:
1. M.N.A.- Flying (composed by Ronan McCormack)
2. Laura-Jayne Hunter – Out of control (composed by Derry O’Donovan)
3. Lee Bradshaw – So what (composed by Billy Larkin and Kevin Breathnach)
4. Johnny Brady – Amazing (composed by Tony Adams Rosa)
5. Kristina Zaharova – I wish I could pretend (composed by Lauris Reinkiks)
6. Sinead Mulvery & Black Daisy – Et cetera (composed by Niall Mooney, Jonas Gladnikoff, Daniele Moretti and Christina Schilling)

- 23:52 – Kristina Zaharova has entered the song. It is a sensitive ballad.
- 23:50 – Lauris Reinkiks might be remembered for his own Eurovision Song Contest participation when he sang Hello From Mars in 2003.
- 23:49 – Fifth song is I wish I could pretend. Composer Lauris Reinkiks states that the Boltic countries are Nordic – not Eastern.
- 23:46 – Marty Whelan points out the big similarity to Olsen Brothers’s Fly On the Wings Of Love. Linda Martin is sure it is a hit in south america
- 23:43 – Johnny Brady has entered the stage. It is a catchy song with a bit of latino rhytm.

- 23:28 – Lee Bradshaw has entered the stage. A good looking man taken from a boyband sings a ballad. Now we recognize Ireland again.
- 23:25 – Third song is So What. One of the composer tells about his loss eight years ago in the Irish final. The song was meant to be used last year.
- 23:22 – The judges are amazed. They call it a hit song, a sound that will do well in Eastern Europe. But also mention that the dancers are too much.
- 23:20 – Laura-Jayne Hunter has entered the stage. It is a kind of a modern disco, but it doesn’t look good on the small stage. It is too crowded.
- 23:17 – Second song is Out Of Control. The composer says that he has included all the things that makes a good Eurovision song Contest song.
