In 2011, they represented Denmark together in the band A Friend In London. Now, Tim Schou and Esben Svane could potentially meet again in Tel aviv, Israel this year, representing each their country.
“Come on boys, come on girls, in this crazy, crazy world…” Do you remember the Danish 2011 entry New Tomorrow? It was performed by the band A Friend In London. The band split up, but two of its members are still active. If things go right, lead singer Tim Schou and drummer Esben Svane could meet each other again at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv, Israel in May – but for each their country.
Tim Schou is one of the songwriters in the German national final and today, Esben’s name popped up as one of the songwriters in United Kingdom’s selection. In Germany, Tim Schou co-wrote the song Demons to be performed by BB Thomaz. For the UK, Esben co-wrote Sweet Lies, which will be performed in two versions, by Kerrie-Anne and also Anisa.
As an interesting fact, Esben’s UK song also has Lise Cabble among the songwriters. She has written several Eurovision entries for Denmark, among those 2013 winner Only Teardrops – but also a song both boys know well; A Friend In London’s New Tomorrow.
Since A Friend In London, both Tim and Esben have been active musicians. Tim has released quite some material in his own name, and as songwriter, he took part in the Swedish 2017 selection with the song Kiss You Goodbye. Esben has released music under the name The Radar Post.
Both Lise Cabble and Tim Schou is rumoured to have songs in this year’s Danish Melodi Grand Prix selection. On the 31st of January, broadcaster DR will reveal its participants and songs.
