Highway’s The Real Thing for Eurovision 2016 premiered

This evening, Montenegro aired the song with which the band Highway will represent them at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. The song is titled The Real Thing and what we see in the video is what we can expect to see on stage in Stockholm, Sweden in May.

It was back in September that the band Highway was internally selected to represent Montenegro at the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. The song, The Real Thing, however wasn’t revealed until tonight.

The band consist of lead singer Petar Tošić, guitarists and back-up singers Marko Pešić and Luka Vojvodić, and keyboardist Bojan Jovović. The latter has previous Eurovision experience as he represented Serbia & Montenegro in 2005 as a part of No Name.

Highway finished fourth in X-Factor Adria, and is as such a well known name across the Balkan countries. The video clip for The Real Thing was shot in a studio in the Serbian capital Belgrade and its director Julian Wood said that what we see in the video is basically what we will see on stage in Stockholm, Sweden for the Eurovision Song Contest in May.

Montenegro at the Eurovision Song Contest

As an independent nation, Montenegro participated at the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 2007. They weren’t met with an imidiate success as they failed to reach the final in its first three attempts. In 2010 and 2011 they took a break from their contest, but they didn’t exactly return any stronger as they also missed out on the final in 2012 and 2013.

The 2014 contest in the Danish capital Copenhagen and Sergej Ćetković became the turning point for Montenegro as he finally made it to the final with the song Moj Svijet. Last year, in 2015 they repeated their final position and Knez secured the country their best result so far, a 13th place in the final with the song Adio.
