Hera Björk to represent Iceland in Oslo

Hera Björk will represent Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest in Oslo in May. Her uptempo and melodic song, Je Ne Sais Quoi, won the Iceland final tonight. Jógvan Hansen took 2nd place with ‘One More Day’.

Íris Hólm – The One – Iris started the show with the lovely ballad from the first semi final. She looked a little different from her last performance. She dressed in a lovely purple dress. This is a very charming song that will do very well.

Matti Matt – Out Of Sight – This country song went down well again with the audience. This seemed to be better presented than in the first semi final.

Rögnvaldur Rögnvaldsson – Gledi Og Glens – Uptempo rock type song. It my opinion not very strong but a good performance none the less.

Jógvan Hansen – One More Day – This is a good performance. There are violinists on stage. Good vocals but not sure if the song is strong enough for the Eurovision stage.

Sjonni Brink – Waterslide – This happy, summery song reminds me of ‘Lazy Sunday Afternoon’ by the Kinks from the 60s. Sjonni and his singers are all sitting on stools. This has a nice country melody.

Hera Björk – Je Ne Sais Quoi – This outstanding song was amazingly performed by Hera, who finished 2nd in the Danish final in 2009. This is uptempo with a strong melody. The audience loved this performance.

Whilst the voting was taking place last year’s representative from Iceland, Yohanna, performed ABBA’s The Winner Takes It All. Some people may remember Yohanna singing this in the Euroclub in Moscow last year.

So, finally, Hera Björk and Jógvan Hansen were called to the stage. To much excitement from the audience Hera was crowned the winner of the contest and she will represent Iceland in Oslo. Jógvan was runner up. The winning song was a very popular decision and will please many Eurovision fans. Congratulations and good luck to Hera in Norway.
