After the announcement of the new Head of Delegations in Czech Republic, now the broadcaster ČT inform us that their entry for Stockholm once again will be chosen internally. The entry is planned to be revealed in February 2016.
A few days ago it was announced by Czech Republic broadcaster, ČT, that their new Head of Delegation is Jan Bors, who has experience with many events and TV shows in the Czech Republic. Jan Bors started to perform his new duties with great enthusiasm. He wrote a letter to Eurovision fans, where he shared his thoughts about the Eurovision Song Contest and gave some hints about the selection process in his country.
Eurovision Song Contest is one of the most prestigious television projects worldwide. Eurovision in Vienna was a high quality production with perfect performances and I am expecting the same from Stockholm. It is difficult for every country to find the right song and the right singer, but my job will be to present a competitive song to the public. It will be hard to reach the same success that the Czech Republic had this year even though the Czech Republic didn’t make the final, I’m still very pleased with the result in Vienna. Czech Republic’s experience this year showed what is needed to choose the right song and representatives. For next year we will do the same and make our choice internally. Composers are already sending their songs to our broadcaster, which shows that there is interest for Eurovision in the Czech Republic. Now we are hoping that we will make the right decision.
ČT revealed that their entry for the 61st Eurovision Song Contest will be announced in February. It wasn’t mentioned if they will present their song in February or just their act as they did last year, when they presented Marta Jandova and Vaclav Noid Barta as their representatives in February, but we had to wait until March to hear their song Hope Never Dies.
Czech Republic in the Eurovision Song Contest
The Czech Republic has competed at the Eurovision Song Contest four times, first taking part in 2007. On all four attempts the country failed to qualify to the final from the semi-finals, placing in the bottom two in the first three attempts.
After receiving nul points at the 2009 Contest and a lack of interest from the Czech public, ČT decided to withdraw from future contests. Five years later ČT announced their return to the contest in 2015, with an internal selection being used to select their fourth Eurovision entry.
As of 2015, the Czech Republic is one of only two countries, along with Andorra, to have participated in the contest and never to have appeared in the final, so far. Two more countries, Slovakia and Monaco, have never qualified from the semi-finals, but participated in Eurovision before 2004 when the semi-finals were introduced.
Marta Jandová and Václav Noid Bárta represented the Czech Republic in Vienna after they have been internally selected by ČT. They gained the best result for their country as they ranked 13th out of 17 with 33 points in the second semi-final of the 60th Eurovision Song Contest.
